Ed Speleers is an 18 year old boy who's life was changed by one simple audition. Of course, he has been acting his whole life by means of schools plays and different movie auditions, but nothing compared to this one role he won over in 2005. Eragon, FOX's newest fantasy adventure, had been in the making for a while filming around its main character when they finally decided to open auditions. At the time, brunette Ed was at the boarding school, Easbourne College in Chichester, England when he heard FOX was looking for their new leading man. He turned his hair blonde and when down to try out in front of the movie director, Stefen Fangmeier who's also participated in big time hits like Signs, Lemony Snickets, The Bourne Identity, and The Perfect Storm. After a little while, Ed heard back from the casting director to hear those magical words. He could hardly believe that he had beat out 180,000 people to play the leading man in one of the years most anticipated films! They started filming right away and went to places like Hungary and Canada and filmed for one month then began the special effects. Eragon releases December 15, 2006 and the World Premiere is December 11 in London.
Before Eragon, Ed has auditioned for different films such as The Chronicles of Narnia to play Peter but was beat out by William Moseley. He has also starred as the leading man in many of his school plays back in England such as Peter Pan, Street Car named Desire, Richard the 3rd, and Hamlet. He is the only child of the financial consultant, John Speleers and his divorced wife. Ed currently resides in London.
